Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 April 2026

Autolyse is built with a simple principle: your data belongs to you, stays on your device, and isn't shared with anyone — including me. This policy explains exactly what that means in practice.

Data Autolyse stores on your device

The app keeps the following information locally, using Apple's SwiftData framework:

  • Starter details (name, flour blend, feeding schedule)
  • Feeding log entries (timestamps, flour and water amounts, ambient temperature if you provide it, notes)
  • Bake entries (recipe name, hydration, stage timings, photos you attach, ratings, notes)

iCloud sync

If you sign in to iCloud on your device and have iCloud Drive enabled, Autolyse uses Apple's CloudKit service to sync your data across your own Apple devices. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple, lives in your private iCloud container, and is never accessible to me or any third party. Apple's privacy policy governs this sync — see apple.com/legal/privacy.

You can disable iCloud sync for Autolyse at any time in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud.

Photos

Autolyse requests permission to use your camera and photo library so you can attach crumb shots to bake entries. Photos you add are stored inside the app's local SwiftData database (and synced via CloudKit if enabled). They are not uploaded anywhere else.

Notifications

Autolyse uses iOS local notifications to remind you about feedings and peak timing. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device; no information about them leaves your phone.

What Autolyse does NOT do

  • No analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar)
  • No advertising networks or ad SDKs
  • No crash reporting services (Apple's built-in crash reporter respects your privacy settings)
  • No user accounts, logins, or sign-ups
  • No server of mine that Autolyse talks to
  • No selling or sharing of any data, because there is no data to sell or share

In-app purchase

Autolyse offers a one-time $6.99 purchase to unlock Pro features. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store via StoreKit, with no third-party payment processor and no personally identifying information leaving your device. The entitlement is restored on any device signed into the same Apple ID.

Children

Autolyse is intended for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will reflect that. Material changes will be noted in App Store release notes.
